From the Top

Still here and standing. The Summer just went by and even though I was busy I feel like I didn't accomplish anything. At least I stayed healthy, at least according to the doctors and the test results. I hope  everyone is healthy and enjoying life. I think I will keep working until something better comes along. I found that you can do only so much fishing and hunting and it becomes a provider to others. The same as growing and harvesting a garden that provides more than you can use. The results are still enjoyable.

Colorado Springs is just around the corner. Doug says this will be the "Party on the Peak" (Pike's that is!). In fact Doug is out there on another recon (reading and playing golf because it is too hot at home). If you can take a few days to relax and enjoy the sights it should be well worth it. Not a reunion or business, just fun. Just to mention, and not dote on it. The politicians on the hill this week proved again they don't represent us. They just look out for themselves and their political party. General Petraeus was the "messenger, and they killed him before he could deliver his message". A complete lack of courtesy. It must have been the TV cameras and their few minutes of fame. Too many candidates for the highest office.

In my spare time I am still doing some horse racing. Mainly long distance. My partner in that enterprise has the horses at Delaware Park and Philadelphia Park at the present time. We may come to Maryland later this year if they are able to increase the purses. Delaware and Pennsylvania have slots at the tracks. Maryland may do the same .

From the Los Angeles Times: In such a poisonous political atmosphere, the public's views really don't matter, said Ronald Brownstein in the Los Angeles Times. Both Bush and the Democrats "are so determined to win the argument over Iraq that they have lost sight of their joint interest" in finding a compromise that a "disillusioned " public can support. Watching incredulous senators ask Petraeus why the Iraqis can't set aside their "narrow sectarian interests" for the good of the nation was a surreal spectacle. Both parties would benefit from asking that question of themselves.

Well, my hunt and peck is about wore out. Enjoy life and care about others. God Bless you all.

Take care,

Roy (14 Sep 07)
