E Company Rangers

From: Rick Stetson

I received an e-Christmas card from Nhan that I wanted to share with you. It was written in Vietnamese but Nhan provided a translation. I think you will appreciate the spirit of his message.

Any snow flowers to come down
Any little fires to flare up
Any the times pass away
A confide to send for somebody
All that is my good sentiment to you
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
    Pham Van Nhan

For me, one of the highlights of 2008 was the opportunity to meet Nhan in Colorado Springs. Now I know why he was so highly regarded of by those of you who had a chance to work with him in Vietnam. I'm grateful to Mac for coordinating the Colorado Springs reunion and to all who pitched in to make Nhan's trip to the States possible, especially those of you who hosted him during his travels before returning home. It was a journey he will never forget.

And now, plans are well under way for another great reunion this May in San Diego. Team 09 reunion leader Bob Hernandez and his ATL's out west have done a spectacular job of lining up fun activities for each day of the reunion. Wish I was there right now to get away from all this snow and ice, but I'll just have to mark the days on my short timers calendar until May gets here. If you have not done so, check out the web site to get an idea of the events that have been planned. And don't forget to send Bob your confirmation check of $100 (covers $50 registration fee, $50 hospitality room) to: Bob Hernandez, 4424 Rock Island Drive, Antioch, CA 94509. If you have questions, Bob can be reached at 925-757-8729.

I'm thankful that so many years after we patrolled the jungles and rice paddies of Vietnam, we have been able to maintain our bonds of friendship. Thanks to Jonesy and others, the names of our comrades who departed before us have not been forgotten, nor will they ever be. We will remember them in San Diego and whenever E Company Rangers gather together. Please enjoy the true spirit of Christmas and may you and your families remain safe throughout the New Year.
   See you in San Diego,

Rick
