Corner 2008
CHAPLAIN’S CORNER
Greetings from the land of the frozen tundra………………still. It is already into March when the daily average should be around 40 degrees and this morning when I got up for work I had quite a surprise as it was -7 degrees out, with a light skiff of snow that fell sometime in the night. I don’t know about the rest of you, but I am really tired of winter and am most ready for spring.
In a couple of weeks it will be as most religious people refer to it as Easter. In our church, it is referred to as Resurrection Sunday. This is the season which we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Many are celebrating Lent in preparation for Easter. I would like in this edition of the Corner to challenge us to think about what we are celebrating.
What price are we willing to pay for ignorance? Could the price be your
very own soul? Read on and the Word of God will minister to your heart.
Hos 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.
The prophet Hosea in the verse above speaks to the issue of ignorance, but the ignorance he speaks of here is that of willful ignorance. After you read this message you will no longer be able to say I didn’t know. Quite honestly I grew up a heathen. I never went to church much and really didn’t give a hoot. We raced in the summer, hunted in the fall and winter. When the hunting season was over it was time to get the car ready for the next season of racing. I was ignorant of the truth of the Word of God. I never heard a clear presentation of the gospel until I was in my middle twenties. Why is this important? Glad you asked. Because I had seen people who were religious go to church on Easter and Christmas for years and really didn’t know what was going on. When I received Christ as my personal saviour, my life slowly began to change as I began to learn the word of God. This learning allowed me to become more aware of societal tendencies in light of religious practice. Did you ever wonder why people do what they do and don’t even think about the ramifications?
Where is lent found in the scriptures. Until tonight when I looked it up on the internet I can honestly say I hadn’t a clue what it was. Lent begins on Ash Wednesday. This is definitely found in the tradition of men, not in the word of God. There is no where in the scriptures where it is spoken of. This is not actually the topic I would like to discuss here, but that of the days preceding Christ’s death burial and resurrection. From the time of the betrayal by Judas, on to the mock trials Christ fulfilled the scriptures of the Old Testament prophets.
One of the parts of this time period that I could never reconcile was why we celebrate ‘Good Friday’. This is the day that religion teaches that Christ was to have been crucified.
The scripture says in Mathew 12:40 For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
He rose on Sunday morning, so he could not have died on Friday since according to the scriptures he ad to be in the heart of the earth (grave) for three days and three nights. He would have conducted the last supper with his disciples on Wednesday, been betrayed later Wednesday night, had the mock trials throughout the night and then faced Pilot on Thursday morning. They scourged him to prepare him for the crucifixion and then later on about 3:00 PM on Thursday he gave up the ghost and died.
The religious sect of the Jews conspired to kill Jesus because they were afraid they would loose their important places in society. Unfortunately today there are many ‘religious’ leaders who fill pulpits across this great land who are of the same ilk of the Pharisees. More concerned with their degrees and standing in the community than with our souls.
While I covet your friendship I will not cease to be a voice of one crying out to all before it is too late. This once great nation has turned its collective back on God. We are a religious nation teetering on the brink of judgment. The pied pipers of today continue their piping as they done for centuries and the minions that march after them are on a broad way into destruction. If you have not repented of your sin, you are on that broad way straight into the jaws of hell.
But my friends, here is the good news; the rest of the story. John 1:12
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the
sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: This verse
explains the key to eternal life. Literally it means that anyone who admits
they are a hell bound sinner in desperate need of rescue, must call out to
Jesus, who is the only one who can save them. This is the very knowledge
spoken of in the verse above. To reject the power of God is a willful act
you will not be forgiven. Our God is a loving God, but he has provided a
gift that we all have a way to escape judgment. When one accepts Christ
we no longer have God as our judge and he instantly becomes our Father.
Many today have believed the lie of infant baptism, or church membership
to get them into heaven and they are on a direct path to destruction. This
dispensation is rapidly coming to an end. Life as we have known if all of
lives is rapidly crashing down. There is not much time left for that one
to accept what is written in the word of God, and once the rapture of the
church occurs it will be too late for many. Please my LRRP/Ranger
brothers, today is the day of your salvation.
If any have questions, please email or call I would be honored to talk with
you. Lord willing I hope to see many of you at our reunion in May.
