March 13 2008
Hello from Maryland. Winter may be out of here after a lot of false
starts. Today it was in the 70s. This weekend it may be in the 40s again with
some snow flurries. Daylight Savings Time is here again and Spring starts on 21
March. We all know that Mother Nature will do things in her own time and way
regardless of those who keep the time and calendar.
Those who think they can control what is natural will have to guess again. All in all we have had a mild winter with some periods of cold weather and a little snow now and then. Sounds normal to me. Sounds as if Mother Earth is cooling at an acceptable rate. (or is it warming, changing climate. take your pick)
Those in the news on this subject seem to think they know the answers. Mother Nature will be the final judge.
I hope everyone is staying healthy and enjoying life . Life continues to be a learning experience for me. Every day I marvel at life's bounty. This morning there was a red sunrise, and this evening it was a red sunset. The old saying, "red sun in the morning, sailors take warning, red sun at night, sailors delight." Mother Nature at work again, for those that pay attention.
The reunion in Florida is marching along. I hope we can entice some new attendees to show up. I see where Shirley Parrish is in the mix again. We should all be grateful that Emory is still with us in spirit. His family is one of a kind. Rangers really do lead the way.
Well, I am still here. Still busy and staying out of trouble. I am as healthy as the practitioners of medicine can ascertain. A colonoscopy on 29 March will determine if they put me back together correctly. No complaints in memory, except the usual lapses we all tend to have. I forgot to set the clocks ahead. I wasn't late, everyone else was early.
That's it from here.
Take care,

Still here and still standing. I hope all is well, or at last under control. The year seems to be marching along at the prescribed rate, Last month we had an extra day and we set our clocks ahead to start Daylight Savings Time (in most states) the 9th of this month. Which lets you know that not much is happening or focused upon, except for the political doings. Personally, I am fed up with it. Politics, politicians, etc. I categorize it as lying, cheating, and stealing.
Senator Obama was quoted in one of his speeches, which must have been missed as being ironic, since it got little notice. "My friends, we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world. I hope you will join me as we try to change it." I guess we got here for the sake of change.
At least the NCAA tournament is starting. The basketball will take up some time and then baseball will get get some attention. Sports seem to be what in my time was a pastime in addition to a weekend. Now it seems to be videos, DVD movies, and all sorts of electronic entertainment. Which is good what with the price of fuel. We don't have to leave home. The airlines are laying off admin personnel to cut costs. The value of the dollar is down and costs are increasing in all commodities as nations compete for resources. Looks as if we should bepaying attention.
Sorry for the doom and gloom. Just reality that has happened before. The main point is to enjoy each day and be happy in spite of trials and tribulations.
All for now. God Bless all.
Take care,
Roy(19 Mar) "Happy Easter"
