From the Top 2009

The Christmas season seems to start before Thanksgiving and go on forever. The spirit of giving to those in need is becoming more necessary what with the state of the economy. The federal work force seems to the only jobs available. In my business the small contractor can not borrow capital from the banks or lenders. The current administration seems to think this country can spend its way out of this recession. Assuming more debt is counter-productive to a healthy economy.

I am self-employed and an independent contractor (LLC), for IRS purposes. I am required to pay unemployment insurance. If should go out of business I cannot file for unemployment. The state has notified employers that 2010 premiums per employee will likely triple. The federal government extends benefits, the state pays out more than budgeted. It seems like we are stepping on ourselves. This ends up with more debt ahead. The stimulus seems to have been a large spending program with no thought involved. Mrs Thatcher, former prime minister of Great Britain, said socialism fails when you run out of other people's money.

So much for those opening remarks. Have a "Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year." Stay healthy and enjoy life. Be a friend to your fellow man and help this country grow back on the correct track. It still belongs to the people.

Take care, God Bless
