A Friend in Need

To: E Company Rangers

From: Rick Stetson

Nhan wrote recently to say that he was back home after attending a Boy Scout jamboree in the Philippines. He had to do a lot of hiking (not easy on one leg) but he is committed to the scouting cause and he is one of the leaders in his country. Nhan was saddened, however, to return and find his friend (and former PRU) Boa, in the hospital in bad shape. Boa had severe internal bleeding and was receiving blood transfusions. Doctors also found foreign bodies in his lungs which turned out to be pieces of hand grenades.

Boa does not have health insurance and if he can not come up with $3000 when he is discharged from the hospital, Nhan says he will lose his home. Nhan gave him $100 which is all he had after returning from the Philippines. In Nhan's email he said, "I know you are tired of us (asking for money) but Boa is a good fighter."

I don't believe Nhan would ask his old Ranger buddies for assistance unless it was truly needed. When he received Nhan's email, Bill Cheek once again "led the way" by promising Nhan that E Company had a reaction team ready to lend a hand. So "thank you" Bill for serving as our point man and collecting our checks and sending a contribution to help cover Boa's hospital expenses. If you would like to help, please send your check to:

When Nhan received Bill's email, he replied, "I shed tears when I get your email. All you are good friends forever. I believe, thanks to you, Boa will be well again and he still have a house to live in. I will call him and let him know about the good news. I think he will cry like me."
Should our contributions exceed, $3000, Bill will donate any excess to our E Company Unit Fund, which can always use a boost. Thank you in advance to everyone when will help as we let our PRU buddies who had our backs long ago know that we still have theirs.
